“Little Big Benny: The Boy Who Didn't Know He Was the Universe,” written by esteemed CMT personality Katie Cook came out on Nov. 27.
Not only does it consist of insightful and creative storylines with her characters but the book contains a wealth of information where children can learn a great deal of facts that they can apply to their studies in elementary school (for instance: Neil Armstrong being the first person to land on the moon, as well as some interesting facts about planet Jupiter, among others).
Katie Cook deserves two thumbs up for the first book in the “Little Big Benny” series. It would make a good choice for a Christmas gift for elementary children and their families. It is filled with great verisimilitude and she provides an adequate amount of character descriptions, which help bring her characters to life. Her initial goal was to immerse her readers into Little Benny’s world and by the completion of the book they will be hooked!
Although it is targeted for children ages 9 to 12, it is great for the entire family. The book’s syntax is impressive and Cook’s great use of verbiage will motivate even the most verbose elementary reader to run for the dictionary.
She ends this book with a question that will leave the reader in suspense for the second installment of the “Little Big Benny.”
